Bonus characters are special playable characters that were specifically designed for a game that usually have to be unlocked. They are not necessarily the same as hidden characters. Most bonus characters have fighting styles similar to those of standard characters. Bonus characters can be created in Soulcalibur III and in Soulcalibur IV. Sometimes, creating bonus characters cannot be the exact bonus character; an example is Revenant as there is no skull and Amy due to her small size.
Soul Blade[]
Soulcalibur II[]
Three bonus characters are in this game, and they represent Hwang, Lizardman (Aeon Calcos) and Rock, but they don't have exactly the same moveset.
Note: They're only available in the North American and European port of Soulcalibur II and they have to be unlocked (not selectable in arcade mode).
Soulcalibur III[]
Most of these bonus characters could easily be created. They now have the option to choose multiple weapons.
These characters can in fact be made completely with create-a-fighter
Note: Most bonus characters must be unlocked in Chronicles of the Sword mode or Tales of Souls mode; some may be unlocked by playing lots of battles.
Soulcalibur IV[]
These characters are clones of standard characters, because they use the same movesets. It is noted that this set of bonus characters are all female, and were designed by guest artists notable in the anime and manga industry.
Soulcalibur V[]
While Soulcalibur V doesn't feature any playable bonus character, the producer of the Tekken series, Katsuhiro Harada makes an appearance in Quick Match mode using the Creation exclusive fighting style, Devil Jin.
