Calvin is a minor character that is mentioned in Soulcalibur VI. He is a member of the Aval Organization, serving as the third seat of The Twelve.

Profile

Calvin is a seasoned warrior who serves as the adjutant of the Aval Organization's executive branch and the third seat of The Twelve. Since the director doesn't directly participate in missions, Calvin is the one who issues commands on the field. While he is considered an old-timer among those at the Organization, it is simply testament to his long and impressive battle record. Even now, he still fights on the front lines as he did in his younger days, his giant blade Midhlethan Replica in hand.
His skills in assessing the field and locating enemies have always been a cut above the rest; he was the first to discover a dying assassin—the young Orzal—while out on a mission. Although he left Orzal's fate in the hands of his superiors at the time, he had personally felt it was best to kill the assassin. Because of this, Calvin long held Orzal with contempt until the day they worked together on a certain mission. The two eventually grew to understand and accept each other, and soon enough they were able to laugh together about their rebellious youth.
The anti-outsider goggles he wears fitted over both eyes are an old model that Orzal once proposed and developed for nighttime missions. Due to the significant limitations the goggles place on normal vision when worn, not many implemented them in battle, but Calvin alone stubbornly continues to use them.

Aval Organization Afterstory 1: Calvin, the Third

From the pirate Cervantes, to Nightmare, the Azure Knight, wielders of the cursed sword appeared one after another near the end of the 16th century. Even now, the Azure Knight prowls around Europe, Soul Edge in hand. The Aval Organization has put up a staunch resistance against Nightmare and his army of malfested, but in the secret battles that followed, the prized top executives of the organization—The Twelve—slowly dwindled. Then, as if adding insult to injury, news arrives of Azwel's betrayal.

"I see, so the fool has deserted us... No matter. Orzal can handle the situation." Hearing that his friend had left to dispose of Azwel, Calvin, third seat of The Twelve, faces off against the approaching army of malfested. While observing the enemy through his blue goggles, he stops for a moment to readjust his weapon. Seeing their chance to attack, the fallen knights set upon Calvin, but he is quicker; his giant sword Midhlethan Replica cuts through the air, and the malfested are instantly sliced in two.
"So long as Orzal and I remain on the seats of The Twelve... we will survive." However, while Calvin returned from his mission, Orzal did not.

A few years pass. Legs slung over the round table at the Aval headquarters, Calvin fixes his eyes at another chair. Unoccupied now, its emptiness pales in comparison to the emptiness in Calvin's heart. This is the seat of his lost friend, Orzal.
"Dion and Natalie have already avenged you. I'm just sorry I couldn't do it myself, but at least Azwel is gone. Yet this time, your student has gone missing. I just can't bring myself to celebrate our victory..."
As if answering to his muttered words, the sharp clank of armor resounds in the room. Calvin lifts his eyes to see an enormous armored figure holding an equally enormous axe. Uttering not a single word, the figure takes a seat.
"Ah, Archibald. You're earlier than the others.
By the way, I heard you were searching for someone called The Conduit. How's that going? You think they could kick-start the Organization's heart again?"
The question is met with silence. Calvin shrugs and laughs.
"Tight-lipped and painstakingly serious as ever, I see. Well, keep up the good work.
This is a crucial time for us. As our auditor, make sure we don't have any more deserters."
The smile disappears from his face as he recalls the recent reports: the Azure Knight's troops are gathering once again. The goal of the meeting today is to address this incoming threat.
