Marco Johnathan (マルコ・ジョナサン, Maruko Jonasen) is a character in the Soul series and appears in Soulcalibur IV and Soulcalibur V. He is a Seinaren which is a race of spirits who have both human and spirit forms
His primary weapon is a katana sword called Aurum. He uses the same weapons and moveset as Yoshimitsu.
What lies in his soul is Honor
In Soulcalibur V's promotional material he is referred as The Golden Samurai.
Physical Appearance[]
Marco resembles his brother but is slightly thinner. He also changes his eye and hair color to a gold color when he dons his armor.
Soulcalibur IV: He is somewhat tall with light blue eyes, brown medium long hair and a normal toned skin.
Soulcalibur V: He lost his right arm after fighting against Night Raven and replaced with a mechanical one underneath fake skin, a huge scar next to his right shoulder. He gain gains wrinkles and grey hair.

Soulcalibur IV: He wears golden samurai like armor which consists of a tengu kabuto with two heads and has a very unique shoulder armor with black trim, a breastplate with white garb along with armlets, black trim and rags, a pair of gauntlets with black trim that are covered with multiple bracelets and a small flame embroided design, a tunic like layered tassets with gold elegant Japanese embroided design, a pair of long shaped shin guards with black trim that has two anklets in the back and straw sandals and a black bodysuit.
Soulcalibur V: He wears golden samurai like armor which consists of a chinese helmet with a black cloth inside the helmet and gold trim, a gold hannya mask with black horns and teeth, a pair of small samurai pads with black trim and rings, a scaly cuirass over a black short sleeved long coat with yellow trim and the Solar kingdom symbol on the back, a pair of armguards with black trim, black leather underneath and held together with a white cloth, a pair of armored shin guards with black straw sandals that have a black cloth in the back and a white bodysuit.

Personality[]
SCIV: Marco is a cocky, arrogant, fun and energetic person. his quotes seems to suggest he is having fun as he battles but he also doesn't like when someone holds back on him, he enjoys to win a battle showing his cockiness. He seems to be prideful of himself although he cares about his opponents as he ask them that they better be ready.
SCV: His personality has changed a bit since SCIV as he is no longer as cocky or fun as before but still retains some of it. some of his quotes seems to suggest some sort of a teacher which could be cause he has now children and the daughter who he trains with. He still seems to have fun as he battles as he laughs in some of his moves.
However, this is just a fake persona that he uses when he fight opponents that are no real threat to him or his kingdom. His real personality is very similar to his brother, John but more collected and serious especially to those that are threatening his family or kingdom.
Biography[]
the year 1546 a warrior named Rick Johnathan met and fell in love with a woman named Catrina they both got married, become the king and queen of Almarian kingdom and 2 years later Catrina gave birth to three children. they were named John, Linda and Marco however the were born without a father as Rick died by the hands of the Wizard. 10 years later Linda was send to the flamear kingdom, Marko send to the Solar kingdom and John however was left at the Almarian castle.
Marco was trained by the king in the style of the katana at age of 15. 3 years later the king died and at the age 18 Marco was offered to be king but declined as he was not ready. Marco left the kingdom to find the Manji clan. He eventually found them and meet the leader Yoshimitsu who Marco asked to train him, Yoshimitsu accepted this and trained him for 5 years. At age of 23 Marco met a young women named Daisy who eventually travelled with him for 2 year. Their friendship eventually grew into love, when they both arrived at the Solar kingdom they married and became king and queen. at the age of 40 Marco's wife gave birth to Marc and Dina. 3 years later Marco heard that his brother was at war with the Wizard Marco want to help him but first at to take of somebody who treated his family, Darko
Soulcalibur IV[]
The giant tower that rose from ground, Marco could sense a great energy from it, similar to that Soul Calibur and Soul Edge yet not the same as them. He knew that his brother would want these but Marco saw these as too dangerous to exist and embark on a journey to destroy this energy.
However the vary same energy would draw others in search for it, including Darko but his mind was already set, grabbing his gear and weapon, he sets off on a journey.
Soulcalibur V[]
17 years ago, Marco helped his brother John, together with their sister Linda to rescue Ivy from Emilo's clutches and bring end to him. Helping his brother to Emilo, they were stopped by Darko, a rogue Manji clan member who was after Marco and was killed by the very same person.
Now Marco, old and perhaps wiser saw that his kingdom needs a new ruler, something that his wife, Daisy agreed on. But who was the question, his son, Marc or his daughter, Dina. The answer was harder then he thought. However this thought was broken after receiving a letter from his brother, John with an emergency that required his attention and their sister too.
The letter revealed that Emilo had survived and that Jack betrayed and stole Diabolus from him. Marco remembered what John said about Emilo last words, That one of his children would betray him. Marco headed towards the Almarian Kingdom and his thoughts repeated the same thing.

Defeating Algol, Marco looked at the two souls swords in front of him and swung his sword, destroying them while Algol yells no.
"You dare!" Algol yells "My resurrection!" Marco looks at him.
"You are dead" he replies as he sheath his sword "You have no right to make actions here and not only that you relied too much on powers that's not your own, you lost either way." Marco left as Algol died.
The text-only epilogue states: "Destroying one kind of evil, he know that more still exist and readied himself for the upcoming battle"
Soulcalibur V[]
With Emilo's death, The world was saved once again from his twisted ideals and rule. Marco left, returning home one last time.
Marco spent his days as king for 9 years until he made one of his children the ruler of Solar but only he and his family know. however a year later, hearing that John was extremely weak, he quickly rode towards the Almarian Kingdom.
There he found John in his bed, his family gathered around him, his wife Ivy, their sons and daughters Jack, Richard, Minda and Eve, his son Kein, his twin sister Linda. With all of them together, John said with his remaining strength that even in times of sorrow so long as they live, there will be hope and that he will always watch over them, even their descendants.
As his speech ended, John took one last breath and passed away. His family buried him in the Almarian graveyard, emotion filled the others, tears run from their eyes, anger in a few Eventually they all left, returning to their homes and continued their lives even though some still grieved in their own time. The years passed and in time Marco passed away and Linda shortly after including their spouses. Despite all this one thing was certain, a new era was born and the fate of it was up to their descendants and those who live in it.

Critical Edge[]
Seikatsu Haisui: Draws both swords while entering the Indian Stance, and spins towards his opponent. If the low attack hits, he rises from the ground while he is still in the Indian Stance and slams the butt of both of his swords together, creating a blinding light in front of him while an aura forms behind him that forces his opponent to cover their eyes and fall back first into the ground.
Critical Finish[]
Seikatsu Toru: Marco slashes his opponent's abdomen, knocking them to the floor, spins around them, pauses, and finally slices them down in a traditional samurai execution. Autumn leaves fall down as he wipes his blade with his sleeve. Ultimately, one out of 7 different kanji appears, all of them in a different color theme and sometimes with different sound effects (one version features the same effect as in Tira's Critical Finish, but no kanji at all). A Japanese Shakuhachi can be heard throughout the Critical Finish

Marco's beloved self-named katana, forged by Marco himself after the training by the king of Solar. It first looks like a regular katana with a golden hilt and handle. After Marco was trained by Yoshimitsu, Marco reforges it to a Sri Lankan curved sword. It is intricately decorated and at first glance looks like it is a ceremonial sword, but it is in fact a sturdy weapon. He reforges again after SCIV to a straight sword with a light gold cross-guard and lion pommel, a black grip decorated with red and gold embroider.
Argento[]
A Wakizashi forged by Marco himself. It was forged by Marco after his training with Yoshimitsu. It has a round light gold cross-guard and a black grip. It has the same looks as Aurum 17 years later.

This stage is set in an exquisitely decorated temple, which leaves a single ring-out opportunity at one side of the room. Also, there is a gigantic mechanical spider in the background. As the battle progresses, the floor slowly slides towards the golden statue and gradually reduces the ring's size.
