Gameplay[]
General information[]
This game removes many old and introduces many new mechanics: for example, Soul Gauge was replaced by Critical Gauge on the corner of screen.
Initially, both warriors have 1 full bar, which is shown by the number on orb. The one, who lands the first attack, will receive one more bar. Critical Gauge can have 3 full bars on first round, increasing each time, when the character is defeated. Gauge’s maximum - is 5 full bars. Guard Impact is not depending on amount of Critical Gauge bars.
Brave Edge mechanic is also completely overhauled: it allows to enhance certain moves, requiring only one full bar of gauge, while Critical Edge requires 2 full bars.
Brand new gameplay mechanics are: Advanced Moves, Trigger Edge and Critical Crush.
Advanced Moves - are attacks, which requires only 1 or 2 full bars of Critical Gauge. These attacks can be used instead to Brave Edges or Critical Edges.
Trigger Edge - is a powerful attack which can be performed, if character has low HP. If player performs Trigger Edge, player’s character will rush through the opponent, and if he isn’t guarding, will land an attack, which causes a lot of damage, destroys opponent’s middle armor, and bleeds him. If the opponent has only one point remain to win the battle, Trigger Edge will be replaced by Trigger Finish. If character has low HP, his HP Gauge will be White, what means that he can perform Trigger Edge, while for Trigger Finish, character’s HP Gauge will be Flashing White.
One of the most notable changes is addition of Blood: after a piece of equipment has been destroyed, it remains so until the Game Over; damage taken to the shattered area is increased (e.g. if the head armor breaks, any High attacks deal more damage) and opponent will lose Blood with his HP. Your character will heal his wounds before facing next opponent.
Critical Crush is a mechanic based on “Weapon-Lock” mechanic from original Soul Edge: when both characters perform Critical Edge, they will cross their weapons. You need to repeatedly push the certain button to have the advantage. There are two types of the result: when someone wins and the draw. If it’s the draw, warriors will push themselves away and continue the battle. If someone wins, the winner will push his opponent back and land a powerful strike which also bleeds him.
Many characters now have special introductions with other characters and unique battle 1 announcement intro animations.
Tag Battles[]
Most of game modes have a tag feature, similar to Tekken Tag Tournament series. As result, there is an addition of Trigger Tag Finish: when your HP Gauge is Flashing White, your tag partner can perform Trigger Finish. In that case, the first part of Tag Finish is performed by attacker, and the last by your active character. Unique Trigger Tag Finishes are appear when the pair contains certain characters (for example, Patroklos & Pyrrha, Natsu & Vortex or Danny & Nesmeyana).

Trivia[]
- This is the fourth and the last mainline game. Letter “F” can mean “Four”, “Future” and “Final”. It is also notable, that “F” was made from IV in Soulcalibur IV logo.
- The original subtitle was “Future Crisis”.
- Trigger Edge was based on mechanic from Samurai Shodown.
- All characters have their own stage, but most of them are variants of same stage, shared by two characters, like in Soulcalibur V. Bosses & guest characters have their unique stages.
- Every Blade Trigger game has their basis: for Blade Trigger it was Soulcalibur III & II, for Blade Trigger II - Soulcalibur VI, for Blade Trigger III - Soulcalibur IV, for Blade Trigger N - Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny. For Blade Trigger F - it is Soulcalibur V.
- Returning characters are containing 5/7 of game roster; 1/7 are characters from Soulcalibur V, and 1/7 are brand new warriors.
- Stages from Blade Trigger II, III and N are also available as DLC. It is included in “Hero Edition” of Blade Trigger F, and in a “Legendary Bundle”, which contains: Blade Trigger HD Online, Blade Trigger F and stages DLC.
- It's the first installment to receive a Mature Rating for realistic blood and violence. It’s symbolic, that the game also features a character from Mortal Kombat and a cruel maniac from Street Fighter as guest characters.
- Most characters have red blood. The only exceptions are: April, Ari (both have silver, as they are automatons), Vortex (he have black oil instead), Lokum (purple), Lightning, Meimei, Danny, Kirill (dark orange; Lighting & Meimei are Malfested vampires; Danny has Malfested arm and blood; Kirill inherited Danny’s blood and gained an ability to resist the evil intelligence of the Soul Edge), Solaria (white), ZERO (dark green) and Rikiti-Tikiki-Tavi (salad green).
- The effects of Meimei’s bite also are depending on opponent’s blood: if blood is red, she will recover her HP Gauge; blood of Lightning, Danny, Kirill and her own will increase her Critical Gauge instead of her HP; blood of Lokum & Rikiti-Tikiki-Tavi will poison her; Solaria’s blood will damage her. Meimei cannot bite April, Ari, Vortex & ZERO.
- Meimei's Neo Electric Claw is upgraded version of Lightning's Electric Claws. But she wears it on only one hand, as the second one turned into skeleton-like limb due to curse of Soul Edge.
- As Xianglian and Blaze are the same person, their pair has unique HP Gauge: they have 150% of normal HP Gauge, and their gauge is split in half horizontally. Xianglian & Blaze also have a unique change animation.
- Original names for Kirill & Silver were Brendon & Florian.
- In Blade Trigger universe Patroklos & Pyrrha are twins, while in Soulcalibur V the latter was his older sister.
- The beginning of Meimei and Lightning's story are similar to fate of Li Long & Chie in Soul Edge, however, it takes an unexpected twist to Raphael & Amy's fate in Soulcalibur III.
- Kirill's second fencing teacher may be Charlotte Christine de Colde from Samurai Shodown series, as the series' main protagonist, Haohmaru, had appeared in Soul series as Guest character.
- Although there are 6 characters from Soulcalibur V, there are totally 10 characters from Soul series, including Amy, Xianglian, Meimei & Leixin. The latter three are debuted in this game as playable characters.
- In Japanese versions of this game Vega's name is Balrog.
- Ari's Mantis Arms are similar to Mantis Blades from Cyberpunk 2077.
- Natsu is the only character, who has two Trigger Finishes - default and secret: the latter can be performed by a hidden button combination. After the activation, Natsu is possessed by Arahabaki and lands a final fatal blow on her opponent. Later she recovers her sanity in the rain of opponent's blood.
- Primrose also has secret Trigger Finish, but it can be performed, when she uses Soul Crystal as her weapon: in that case, Trigger Finish is similar to her Critical Edge from Blade Trigger II.
- An alien insect Rikiti-Tikiki-Tavi was named after Rikki-Tikki-Tavi.
