Soul Calibur (ソウルキャリバー, Soul Calibur^?) is Nightmare's ultimate weapon in Soulcalibur II, Siegfried's ultimate weapon in Soulcalibur III and Soulcalibur Legends, and Siegfried's default weapon in Soulcalibur IV, Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny and Soulcalibur V (only by the CPU in Legendary Souls, equipped by Siegfried in Stage 4).

Soulcalibur II

Description: The spirit sword that has fought countless battles against Soul Edge behind the scenes of history, unbeknownst to man. It reacts to those of pure heart and gives its wielder the power to counter darkness. Just like the dark sword, it can change its form. It is a sword of light that fills its wielder with vitality merely by being held, but apparently, it is actually somewhat weak against direct impact.

There are two methods to obtain Siegfried's Soul Calibur:

• Fight a total of 660 matches.
• Complete Siegfried's Tales of Souls after obtaining Flamberge, Glam and Faust.

Siegfried's ultimate weapon. It is unlocked by reaching the Legendary Hero rank.

Soulcalibur IV

Profile

A sword forged in the ancient past, in the time of heroes. Its great mission is to defeat Soul Edge. It is the alter ego of the cursed sword and, like its dark adversary, has the power to transform itself in response to the spirit of the warrior who wields it. For generations, a guardian tribe protected its purity, but in time the tribal line died out and with it the sword’s last protectors.

When Siegfried, who had once been possessed by the cursed sword, took up the spirit blade, it responded to his soul and became a great destroyer of evil. Even as Soul Edge grew powerful beyond all reckoning, so did Soul Calibur respond and grow stronger in turn. They say it is has become far more than a mere sword; it is the crystallized embodiment of near limitless power.

Trivia

• Oddly, Nightmare is able to equip this sword in Soulcalibur II, despite the fact he is the embodiment of Soul Edge in Soulcalibur III and Soulcalibur IV. This is based on the fact that Siegfried is possessed by Soul Edge at this point in the game series, and as such his human form (Nightmare's third outfit in the game) is able to wield the soul blade, not necessarily the 'Azure Knight' costume that is default for Nightmare in Soulcalibur II.
• Siegfried's version of Soul Calibur in Soulcalibur III becomes the alternate version of Siegfried's base weapon in Soulcalibur IV, albeit with a darker shade of blue.
• In Soulcalibur II, this version of Soul Calibur looks a lot like Xianghua's version of Soul Calibur, but both of the wings are formed into one and one part of the split blade is much larger than the other.
• According to Soulcalibur IV's official strategy guide, Soul Calibur in this form (specifically, the version in Soulcalibur IV) is not just a mere sword, but a pure, crystalline embodiment of raw power.
• This weapon is also in Soulcalibur V, but is only usable by a CPU-controlled Siegfried in Legendary Souls and Quick Battle (he also has his SCIV P1 outfit).
• This particular version of Soul Calibur is the most expensive weapon in Soulcalibur III.
• In Tales of Souls mode, Siegfried automatically equips this weapon when he's fighting Abyss.
