Soryuju (蘇竜集?) is a nunchaku made by Maxi himself, it is his primary weapon. It appears in Soulcalibur II, Soulcalibur III, Soulcalibur IV, Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, and Soulcalibur V.
Its name means "Gathering of Revived Dragons", and symbolizes Maxi's determination to avenge his crew.
Soulcalibur II[]
Weapon Gallery description: A nunchaku that Maxi created when he set out once again on a mission of revenge. The name means "Gathering of Revived Dragons," and presumably it indicates his determination to avenge his crew. Since he made it himself, it is well-balanced and exceedingly easy to handle.
Soulcalibur IV[]
Profile[]
Maxi crafted these nunchaku, reminders of his oath of vengeance, with his own two hands. Their name means "the dragons, reborn, will gather," an expression of his determination to fulfill that oath.
The burden has grown heavy of late, forcing him to make hard choices: to avenge his friends of the past, he has had to part ways with friends of the present. In his hands, Soryuju continues to howl.
Soulcalibur V[]
Profile: Maxi crafted the black nunchaku Soryuju himself for the sole purpose of avenging his murdered crew. His quest for vengeance ended in success after he defeated Astaroth, but Maxi then chose to travel on alone. Gradually losing sight of his humanity, Maxi carved out a life of merciless vigilantism for himself with Soryuju and earned the nickname "Two-headed Black Dragon" among the lawless ruffians of society.
Despite the dark emotions that threatened to overtake Maxi as a result of the Soul Edge fragment embedded within him, Maxi managed to hold onto at least a shread of his honor and refrained from committing any act of violence that went against his code. It was Kyam's necklace, which Maxi had attached to Soryuju, that always stopped him from completely giving in to the temptations of Soul Edge's dark allure. For Maxi, having Soryuju at his side was almost like havvig Kyam there, and so long as he lived the two would no doubt continue fighting together.
