A Ring Out occurs when one player is knocked out of the stage during a fight. A player who is ringed out loses all their remaining HP and loses the round. In Soul Edge and Soulcalibur, they were called "Out Of the Ring", and only in the former game does the ringed out player keep their remaining HP intact. It was later simply changed to "Ring Out" in Soulcalibur II and onwards.
In Soulcalibur IV, Certain skills give characters a chance to avoid ring outs. From Soulcalibur V onwards, characters have humorous quotes when ringed out.
