Gaea Sword (ガイアソード?) is one of Sophitia's and Taki's weapons in Soul Edge. Gaea is a Grecian word and means "the earth", therefore the Gaea Sword is The Earth Sword. Its main attribute is that it can heal its owner.
With the exception of Soul Edge and Soul Calibur, this is the only weapon that can be used by more than one character.
Sophitia's Gaea Sword can be unlocked by completing Episode 2 of her Edge Master mode. After coming across a megalith in the middle of a large crater, she spots Rock, who raises his axe. Hephaestus commands her to beat him, which she does by pushing him off the megalith. Afterwards, he rewards her by giving her the Gaea Sword, which provides protection from the goddess of the earth.
Taki's Gaea Sword can be unlocked by completing Episode 5 of her Edge Master mode. Taki tries to sneak up to Sophitia, as she prayed in the Eurydice Shrine, without her noticing but was caught. After defeating Sophitia and a double of herself, she picks up Sophitia's Gaea Sword and hears Hephaestus voice, commanding her to destroy Soul Edge.
