Gorozaemon Yamabuki (山吹五郎左衛門, Yamabuki Gorozaemon) is a minor character in Soulcalibur VI. He is part of the Kokonoe clan, who was once an enemy of Setsuka before becoming an ally of hers after asking her for help in stopping Gyobu Kokonoe, whom he suspects to be the new Demon Assassin.

Gorozaemon is adept at the assassination techniques of the Hidden Kokonoe, capable of blending his form into the darkness of night. Like Gyobu and Shugen, he has gained superhuman powers through the "curse of the Hidden Kokonoe," an extremely cruel training regimen. Gorozaemon has an affinity for the number five and the color yellow, as his given name contains the Chinese character for "five," and his family name, "Yamabuki," is a variety of yellow rose.

Gyobu Kokonoe taught him how to survive through the Hidden Kokonoe's brutal training, and Gorozaemon returns this debt with his devotion; he does not hesitate to call himself "Gyobu's greatest disciple" at every chance he gets. It appears Gyobu also genuinely trusts his straightforward honesty, often taking him as a companion on ventures outside the clan. During Gyobu's surprise attack on Heishiro Mitsurugi, Gorozaemon suffered a deep cut to the face. Yet, when he saw Gyobu fall unconscious from Shugen's attack, he carried his master home without a second thought to his own pain.

About one year later, Gorozaemon sensed a change in Gyobu, so subtle that only a loyal retainer like him would notice. He had been concerned that Gyobu, who was a meticulous, hard-working man, had been thrown off balance after the defeat against both Mitsurugi and Shugen; unfortunately, his instincts were correct. Even when he went to request Setsuka's aid in stopping the Demon Assassin, he secretly hoped that the fight would not end in Gyobu's death. Perhaps his fervent prayers helped lead Setsuka to develop her life-giving technique.

Gorozaemon despises Shugen, but it is merely a reflection of his beloved master Gyobu's own hatred. Perhaps he resented their difference in strength, perhaps he could not stand Shugen's handsome features, or perhaps they were even rivals in love, but the details have been forgotten over the years—or so he claims.
