Gram (グラム Guramu?) is one of Siegfried's weapons in Soul Edge (where it was called Grimblade in Western versions of the game), Soulcalibur III, and Soulcalibur VI; and one of Nightmare's extra weapons in Soulcalibur II. It is also Frederick's weapon in Soulcalibur IV. Because of mistranslations of L and R, it is named "Glam" in some early games, instead of "Gram".

Gram, called Grimblade in the Western versions of Soul Edge, is one of Siegfried's weapons. It is unlocked by completing Episode 1 of Siegfried's Edge Master mode. Sir Stefan's castle, once thought to be invincible, was on the brink of falling to Marquis Andre's forces. Siegfried, commander of Stefan's mercenary knights, was tasked with defending the castle from its invaders. After defeating a foreign mercenary, Siegfried enters the blazing castle to get what he truly desires: Sir Stefan's legendary sword, Grimblade. The whole reason as to why he was working for him was to steal his weapon. After killing his employer, he takes Grimblade for himself.

Weapon Gallery description: A black sword passed down over the ages, it is said to have once been used to slay a dragon. The symbols engraved on the blade apparently have some sort of mystical effect, and it boasts cutting power much greater than it appears to have. That sharpness allows it to damage opponents even if they manage to block the blow.

There are two methods to obtain Glam: the first is to defeat Siegfried in Tales of Souls (although the chances of obtaining it this way are low), and the other method is to simply purchase it in the Weapons Shop for 24,800 Gold. However, you need to unlock it first before it'll appear in the Shop's listing. There are two ways to make it appear in the Shop's listing:
- Fight a total of 325 matches.
- Clear any of the following stages during Siegfried's Tales of Souls:
- Stage 6 (Thief A, Voldo)
- Stage 7 (Revenant)
- Stage 8 (Sophitia)
- Stage 9 (Kilik)

Description: A large, black sword from long ago that is said to have been used to slay a dragon. The mark on the blade supposedly inflicts a curse on opponents, and the blade itself is said to be so sharp that merely deflecting an opponent's strike is enough to damage their blade.
Etymology[]
This sword is a direct reference to Old Norse and Old German mythology. In Old Norse, there was a hero named Sigurd. Sigurd was the son of king Sigmund, who owned a sword named Gram. Gram was a two-handed sword (zweihander in German) that had been stuck into a tree by the All-Father Odin, and only one man, the rightful king, could remove it. Sigmund did, and he died in a battle with Odin (who was in disguise) while his wife was pregnant with Sigurd. Gram had been shattered is the duel, and it's remnants were willed to Sigurd. It was then reforged, and was now claimed to be so sharp, when the smiths were finished it could cleave an anvil in twain. Then, for various reasons, as the mythology progresses, Sigurd uses Gram to slay the dragon Fafnir. Just the very reference in-game. Then, the Old Norse had influenced a large area, including Sweden and Germany. In Germany, the tales were same, but names were changed. The name Sigurd was now Siegfried. The Old German myths used the same physical description of Sigurd though. In Old German he was described as a tall man, with long blonde hair and a zweihander named Gram, and his name was Siegfried. He would also sometimes enter battle wearing only steel greaves and boots, entirely bare-chested. This form of Siegfried was an alternate costume for Nightmare in Soulcalibur II.
This also is most likely the origin of Excalibur. The story of how it was retrieved is very similar, and this mythology was around first. It was an Old Norse mythology, then Old Germanic. The Norse and Germanic people had influence on the Swedish. The Arthurian legends we know today came from England, who got it from France, who took theirs from Sweden. So, it went from Norse to German to Swedish to French to English, from Sigurd and Gram to Arthur and Excalibur.
Trivia[]
- In Soulcalibur Legends, Siegfried's sword Requiem is stated to have originally been called 'Gram' by its forger. Whether or not this relates to the Gram that appears in other games is unclear.
- Gram looks similar to the Blade of Awe in Battleon's Adventure Quest.
- In Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, Gram looks completely different. It is not black and has no runes on it, It looks more like a traditional German zweihander. This is due to the fact that if the system language is set to Japanese, its name reads ツヴァイハンダー (Zweihänder), instead of グラム (Gram), so thereby means that Gram's appearance wasn't changed, it is just not Gram, but a completely different sword itself. A similar design would later appear as the Flamberge in Soulcalibur V.
- Oddly, Gram does not appear in Siegfried's weapon list in Soulcalibur V, but Nightmare has a sword called Balmung (another known name for the Gram).
- The version of Gram from Soulcalibur III and Soulcalibur IV returns in Soulcalibur: Lost Swords as one of Siegfried's weapons.
