Indian Port (インドの港街), also called Harbor of Souls in the Western Dreamcast versions of Soulcalibur and Indian Port City in Soulcalibur VI, is a stage that appears in Soulcalibur and Soulcalibur III. In both games, they are Maxi's home stage.

Soulcalibur[]

Indian Port, called "Harbor of Souls" in the Western Dreamcast versions of the game, is Maxi's home stage. Its appearance is slightly different in the arcade versions of Soulcalibur: the platform that the fight takes place on tilts slightly as it rides the waves whereas, in the Dreamcast version, it is completely static.

Profile[]

Maxi's crew regularly visited this harbor in India to trade goods.

In India, there are grand, broad steps known as a "ghat" that allows worshippers to walk into the river to bathe in holy river water. These steps also lead to narrow, maze-like streets packed tightly with houses, temples, and shops. Visitors who are unfamiliar with the city are said to lose their way without exception.

The gray seas of this harbor became the watery burial grounds of Maxi's sworn brother Kyam and others who met their fate at the hands of Astaroth. Maxi swore to take revenge against Astaroth as he gazed out beyond his sunken ship into the open seas.

Soulcalibur III[]

Soulcalibur III - Indian Port

The stage returns in Soulcalibur III, once again as Maxi's home stage.

Profile[]

A port town is a place where the pathways of land and sea meet. It is a crossroad where people both meet and part ways. It was here that Maxi and Kilik met four years ago. Maxi, together with Kilik, headed west to avenge his crew, who had been wiped out in a sudden attack by a strange horde of monsters. Thus, this place could also be called the starting point on his pathway to revenge.

On a cliff overlooking the east sea, a little way out from the city, stands a grave marker made from what appears to be the fragments of a Ryukyu ship. In front of it, one can find a container of Ryukyu wine. Will Maxi one day be able to tell his crew, sleeping beneath this unknown grave, that he has successfully avenged them?

Trivia[]

  • In overseas Dreamcast versions of Soulcalibur, the background music is renamed to "Across Stormy Seas".
