Overview[]
Iron-Fist Possession is a special move that Yoshimitsu can do. It is not, strictly speaking, a single attack but rather thirteen different attacks—most originating from the Tekken series—that Yoshimitsu can randomly do. The conditions changes depending on the game.
Below is a list of what moves Yoshimitsu can do:
- Flop (失敗): Yoshimitsu spins around.
- Deadly Boomerang (レッグラリアット Reggu Rariatto?, lit. "Leg Lariat"), a move used by King.
- Slap (ビンタ Binta?), one of Nina Williams and Anna Williams' moves.
- Drunken Master Walk (
酔歩 Suiho?), one of Lei Wulong's moves.- If the opponent does a mid horizontal attack, then Yoshimitsu will avoid it by doing Deathcopter.
- If the opponent attacks him with a vertical attack, then Yoshimitsu will avoid it by doing Spinning Evade (the first spin does not drain health, but any subsequent spins will).
- In Soulcalibur IV, Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny and Soulcalibur V, Yoshimitsu will automatically go into Flea stance to avoid low attacks.
- In Soulcalibur IV, Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny and Soulcalibur V, Yoshimitsu will automatically go into Indian Stance to avoid high attacks.
- Force (
金剛体 Kongōtai?, lit. "Vajra Body"), one of Jin Kazama's moves. - Heaven Divide (
天噸 Tenton?), one of Kunimitsu's moves.- In Soulcalibur IV and Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, if he's close enough then he will teleport in front of the opponent, above them. If he's next to the opponent, then he will appear behind them instead. In Soulcalibur V, Yoshimitsu always teleports above and in front of the opponent.
- Incomplete Somersault (失敗サマー?) (also called "NG Somersault"), one of Paul Phoenix's moves.
- Shadow Step (
影足 Kageashi?), one of Heihachi Mishima's moves. - Burning Knuckle (スーパーナックルボム Sūpā Nakkuru Bomu?, Super Knuckle Bomb), one of Armor King and King's moves.
- Greetings (
挑発 Chōhatsu?), a taunt used by Xiaoyu. - Blazing Kick (ブレイジングキック Bureijingu Kikku?), a move used by Lee Chaolan.
- Lightning Uppercut (
鬼神滅裂 Kijin Metsuretu?), a move used by Kazuya Mishima, Jin Kazama and Devil Jin.- If the buttons are held down, Yoshimitsu will do Lightning Screw Uppercut.
- Stone Breaker (
鉄騎 Tekki?), a move used by Paul Phoenix.
Soulcalibur II and Soulcalibur III[]
By default, performing Iron-Fist Possession will cause him to either only just simply spin around in place or (in Soulcalibur II only) do Xiaoyu's Greetings. There are two things Yoshimitsu must do before he can use the other moves:
- Soul Charge. Some moves occur more frequently at specific Soul Charge levels. Once Soul Charge ends, Yoshimitsu cannot do any other move other than the basic actions.
- Successfully doing Yoshimitsu's Soul Siphon or Soul Harvest throw on the opponent. Doing it this way will give Yoshimitsu three "mitama points" (御霊ポイント)[1] The points cannot be carried over between rounds, using Iron-Fist Possession uses up one point, and you cannot have more than three points at a time.
In Soulcalibur III, doing Iron-Fist Possession by itself will only cause Yoshimitsu to do Flop; Greetings would be added to the pool of random attacks.

Soulcalibur V[]
In Soulcalibur V, Iron-Fist Possession was changed once again. At the start of match, Yoshimitsu will only have access to only a few moves. However, every time he successfully Guard Impacts a move using Soul Stealer, he gains access to more moves.
