Flop in Soulcalibur V.

Iron-Fist Possession ( (にん) (ぽう) (てっ) (ぱく) (おろ) Ninpō Teppaku Oroshi?) is a move that Yoshimitsu has had since Soulcalibur II all the way up to Soulcalibur V. It is unique in that it is not a single move, but thirteen different moves—most of which are from the Tekken series.

Overview[]

Iron-Fist Possession is a special move that Yoshimitsu can do. It is not, strictly speaking, a single attack but rather thirteen different attacks—most originating from the Tekken series—that Yoshimitsu can randomly do. The conditions changes depending on the game.

Below is a list of what moves Yoshimitsu can do:

Soulcalibur II and Soulcalibur III[]

By default, performing Iron-Fist Possession will cause him to either only just simply spin around in place or (in Soulcalibur II only) do Xiaoyu's Greetings. There are two things Yoshimitsu must do before he can use the other moves:

  • Soul Charge. Some moves occur more frequently at specific Soul Charge levels. Once Soul Charge ends, Yoshimitsu cannot do any other move other than the basic actions.
  • Successfully doing Yoshimitsu's Soul Siphon or Soul Harvest throw on the opponent. Doing it this way will give Yoshimitsu three "mitama points" (御霊ポイント)[1] The points cannot be carried over between rounds, using Iron-Fist Possession uses up one point, and you cannot have more than three points at a time.

In Soulcalibur III, doing Iron-Fist Possession by itself will only cause Yoshimitsu to do Flop; Greetings would be added to the pool of random attacks.

Soulcalibur III Iron-Fist Possession moves[1]
Mitama points Soul Charge state Moves that occur
Yoshimitsu has mitama points Soul Charge Level 3 Burning Knuckle, Heaven Divide, Lightning Uppercut
Soul Charge Level 2 and Level 1 Greetings, Slap, Drunken Master Walk, Force, NG Somersault, Deadly Boomerang, Blazing Kick, Shadow Step, Stone Breaker, Burning Knuckle, Heaven Divide, Lightning Uppercut
Yoshimitsu has no mitama points Soul Charge Level 3 Deadly Boomerang, Burning Knuckle, Blazing Kick, Stone Breaker, Heaven Divide
Soul Charge Level 2 Stone Breaker, Force, NG Somersault, Blazing Kick, Slap, Deadly Boomerang
Soul Charge Level 1 Drunken Master Walk, Greetings, Slap, NG Somersault

Soulcalibur IV and Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny[]

In Soulcalibur IV and Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, what move Yoshimitsu does changes depending on the timer.

  • When the last digit of the timer is 0, then Yoshimitsu will do Deadly Boomerang.
  • When the last digit of the timer is 1, then Yoshimitsu will do Slap.
  • When the last digit of the timer is 2, then Yoshimitsu will do Drunken Master Walk.
  • When the timer is at 93, 83, 73, 63, 53, 43 or 33, then Yoshimitsu will do Force.
  • When the timer is at 23, 13, 03, then Yoshimitsu will do Lightning Uppercut.
  • When the last digit of the timer is 4, then Yoshimitsu will do Heaven Divide.
  • When the last digit of the timer is at 5, then Yoshimitsu will do Incomplete Somersault.
  • When the last digit of the timer is at 6, then Yoshimitsu will do Shadow Step.
  • When the last digit of the timer is at 7, then Yoshimitsu will do Burning Knuckle.
  • When the timer is at 98, 88, 78, 68, 58, 48 or 38 or if it is set to infinite, then Yoshimitsu will do Greetings.
  • When the timer is at 28, 18, or 08, then Yoshimitsu will do Stone Breaker.
  • When the timer is at 99, 89, 79, 69, 59, 49, or 39, then Yoshimitsu will spin around.
  • When the timer is at 29, 19 or 09, then Yoshimitsu will do Blazing Kick.

When the timer is set to infinite—such as in Training Mode—in Soulcalibur IV, Yoshimitsu will only do Greetings. However, in Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, Yoshimitsu will cycle through each move in a set order.

Soulcalibur V[]

In Soulcalibur V, Iron-Fist Possession was changed once again. At the start of match, Yoshimitsu will only have access to only a few moves. However, every time he successfully Guard Impacts a move using Soul Stealer, he gains access to more moves.
