Kafziel (カフジエル?) is Zasalamel's standard scythe used in all of his appearances. It comes from the name Cassiel, an Angel of Death of Jewish lore appointed to take the lives of kings. Its 1P design has always remained white and gold, but the 2P design gets recoloured from mulberry magenta in Soulcalibur III to black in Soulcalibur IV.

Profile[]
This great scythe bears the name of an ancient Angel of Death, and Zasalamel never parts with it. After every reincarnation, he takes Kafziel in hand to serve his purpose. The beginnings of this icon of Death are unclear; all we know for sure is that like its master, it has returned to life countless times. In the vast annals of history left to us, we find here and there figures who are almost certainly Zasalamel, always wielding the telltale scythe.
Master and blade, both witnesses to an eternity of happenings on earth. Considering the many people who have fallen victim to the weapon, its name seems quite appropriate.[1][2]
Soulcalibur Broken Destiny[]
Kafziel is Zasalamel's default weapon in Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny. There are two versions in the game (a 1P and 2P version), and both are already unlocked at the start of the game.
Soulcalibur VI[]
- "An ancient ritual scythe that has become a symbol of Zasalamel, a sorceror who has long lurked within the shadows of history. It bears the name of an angel of death, and has reaped countless lives for its grim owner. This blade has been used again and again throughout the ages and has long-since proven its worth as a vicious and effective weapon."
- — Weapon Compendium description
Zasalamel's Colour 2 costume recolours it to be black, similar to how its 2P variant was coloured in Soulcalibur IV.
Profile: No matter how many lives he lives, Zasalamel can always be seen with a scythe in hand. Whenever he is reborn and the memories of his past lives return, he collects Kafziel, which his previous incarnation has always hidden away. The weapon's name means "angel of death," and its curved edge has tasted oceans of blood in the service of its master. Zasalamel is the mastermind behind a thousand and one plots and intrigues, but he does not just pull strings from afar—whenever something needs doing, he does it himself. Any who believe themselves clever or strong enough to meddle in the currents of history will find themselves at odds with this seasoned manipulator. But pawn or king, Zasalamel will not not hesitate to bring his scythe to bear and eliminate a piece he deems irrelevant to his intricate plans.
Trivia[]
- Despite Zasalamel himself, nor a successor, being present in the game, Kafziel appears on the Tower of Glory: Most Holy Dichotomy stage in Soulcalibur V.
- The 2P variant of Kafziel would later become Ammit in Soulcalibur VI.
