Megaton Hammer ( メガトンハンマー?) is one of the weapons Link can use in Soulcalibur II. Its name is a pun of "mega ton".

Soulcalibur II[]

"Good offense, strong strikes, but a short reach."
— Description

In Soulcalibur II, the Megaton Hammer is one of three alternative weapons Link wields that is not a sword, the others being the Cane of Byrna and the Bug-Catching Net. It has a short range (being reduced by 20%) comparable to the Razor Sword's (which is reduced by 15%), but is compensated by a high 135% attack power.

Like the Biggoron's Sword, instead of using both hands as in Ocarina of Time, Link wields it with one hand, but surprisingly does not require any stamina to use in spite of its relatively heavier weight. Also, when hitting an opponent with it, the powerful hammer will produce a metallic rattle sound.

Profile:[]

An extremely heavy hammer. Learning to use it effectively could take some time, as its reach is somewhat short for a weapon. Its power and toughness, however, far exceed that of any normal sword. It's guaranteed to inspire awe.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time[]

In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the Megaton Hammer debuted as the key treasure item found in the Fire Temple. This thick, steel hammer was described as a mighty weapon that was once used by a Goron Hero to defeat a legendary evil dragon, Volvagia, a feat Link himself would repeat as the wingless fire-breathing monster was revived by Ganondorf. Due to its heavy weight and raw power, it is required to be wielded with two hands, and consequently cannot be used with a shield, similar to the Biggoron's Sword. The strength of the Megaton Hammer is so massive that it can smash boulders and force rusted switches to work again, which occurred in the Fire Temple and a few other dungeons. It can also be used as a weapon against enemies, and can prove useful in the final battle against Ganon (had the player not optionally obtained the Giant's Knife or especially Biggoron's Sword).
