Biography[]
Soul Edge[]
Sophitia lives in Athens with her family, a part of the Ottoman Empire. The daughter of a Greek baker, she worked at her family bakery. She has always treasured her country's culture and prayed often to the city guardian, Athena, the goddess of wisdom. One day, as she bathed in a forest spring, a bright light appeared and took the shape of a man. He revealed to her that he was the Olympian god of fire and forge Hephaestus and told her of the evil sword Soul Edge. The existence of such a powerful blade would put shame to his name, as he had not created it, and that if anyone were to discover it, it would bring much pain to the world. Hephaestus ordered her to come to the Eurydice Shrine and receive a holy weapon, the Omega Sword, so that she could destroy Soul Edge. At first, Sophitia was reluctant to take the holy mission; as she told Hephaestus, she was but a baker's daughter. However, Hephaestus insisted she could achieve the goal, and Sophitia relented. Upon gaining her equipment, she ventured forward. Sophitia did eventually track down Soul Edge in a port in Valencia, Spain, and she fought its wielder, the dread pirate Cervantes de Leon, destroying one of the twin blades. However, shards of the evil sword flew with great force from her powerful blow, wounding her too greatly to finish the fight. Just as Cervantes was about to deliver a finishing blow to the wounded Sophitia, a mysterious female ninja, Taki, saved her and proceeded to kill the evil pirate. After the battle had finished, Taki carried Sophitia on her back to her home in Athens, where Sophitia's sister, Cassandra, had been waiting for her. Cassandra was the only person to believe her story at the time.
Soulcalibur[]
After recovering from her wounds she suffered from the sword fragments, she returned to her life as the daughter of a baker and spent her days peacefully. However, one day, when she was out shopping with Cassandra, Sophitia had an ominous vision of a knight in azure armor and a sword of immense evil—a sword she knew that had to be Soul Edge. She suddenly collapsed and was rescued by a swordsmith named Rothion; they fell in love at the first sight, and decided to become engaged. They were visiting the temple of Hephaestus to report their engagement to him, and then she received a second oracle from the God to destroy the remains of Soul Edge. Hephaestus then supplied her with holy metal and ordered Rothion to forge a new Omega Sword and shield; she set out on a second journey to destroy the cursed sword. On this second journey, Sophitia, who healed the lands polluted by evil, eventually stopped feeling the evil presence of the blade. She continued for a while, but once she was sure someone else had destroyed the blade, she immediately ended her travels and returned to her home as quickly as possible.
Soulcalibur II[]
There, she soon married Rothion and eventually gave birth to both a son and a daughter, Patroklos and Pyrrha. But a strange metal shard that Rothion had received from a mysterious customer four years later brought a halt to her newfound happiness. Upon bringing the metal fragment home, their two children began to fight violently with each other over the artifact. The evil aura the fragment emanated caused Sophitia's old wounds to ache, as they had been undoubtedly infected with the evil energy of Soul Edge seven years previous, explaining her children's predilection for the bizarre aura. Cassandra had seen Sophitia's distraught expression and proceeded to grab the shard from her grasp and run out the door, running away from home soon afterwards with the Omega Sword and Nemea Shield. A couple of weeks later, Sophitia decided that if she was to free her children from the evil sword's curse and ensure her sister's safety, she had to embark on a third journey. But because Cassandra had stolen Sophitia's previous weapons, which she had stored at Eurydice Shrine, Rothion forged her a new set to destroy the cursed Soul Edge once and for all...
Soulcalibur III[]
Her journey took her to Ostrheinsburg Castle, which was blanketed by a thick fog. From the fog emerged a small girl in green clothing with a large ring-like blade. The girl casually told Sophitia that Soul Edge was not in the castle, and she also told her that she wanted to "play" with Sophitia's children with a smile that was neither gentle nor heartwarming. Sophitia lunged at the girl, but she easily dodged her attack, and disappeared into the fog, laughing. Sophitia quickly returned home and was relieved to see that her family was safe, but she was unsure whether to continue her search for Soul Edge. She went to the Eurydice Shrine to pray to Hephaestus for guidance, where the girl in green was waiting for her.
As they fought, Sophitia noticed an emotion from the girl other than madness. She realized that the girl had never felt happiness and commented as such. With a look of hatred in her eyes, the irritated girl simply pushed Sophitia away and left, leaving these words in her wake: "You're annoying... when the time comes, I'll come for your children". Sophitia then made up her mind. She was going to destroy Soul Edge for the sake of her children. Asking her husband to keep their children safe, Sophitia left to continue her search for the cursed sword.
Soulcalibur IV[]
Sophitia continued her pursuit of the cursed sword, and at last she arrived in the sword's dominion, Ostrheinsburg. There, she learned a shocking truth. While she was away from home, a cunning servant of the cursed sword had abducted her daughter Pyrrha, who had been deliberately exposed to the corrupting influence of the blade. Soul Edge had grown more powerful then ever, a sinister voice whispered, and Pyrrha would die without the sword's evil energy to sustain her.
"Feeling torn? I would too, if I'd left my children to fend for themselves!" The words clung to Sophitia like a curse. "Well, don't believe me, if you don't want to, but I suggest you think carefully before making your choice." She had come running after the sword to destroy it, but when she thought about the consequences now, if Soul Edge should be lost, what would become of her child?
And so that her child might live, the crusader Sophitia made her choice; to battle any righteous warrior who came to Ostrheinsburg seeking to destroy Soul Edge. With each new sin, guilt tore at her heart, but there was no other way. Would Sophitia and her family never be able to dwell in the light of the sun again?
Soulcalibur: Put your Soul Under Blade[]
Sophitia was fighting Cervantes and managed to destroy the female half of Soul Edge during her fight with him. But she was badly injured by the shards and about to lose the fight. Taki came for help and ended the battle by killing Cervantes. Taki managed to extract most shards out of Sophitia's body, but one remained near her heart: when she gave birth to Pyrrha and Patroklos, both of her children were "tainted". Tira was interested in Sophitia's children because they were potential hosts for Soul Edge, and she managed to kidnap Pyrrha. In Soulcalibur IV, Sophitia tried to rescue Pyrrha, but was told that her daughter was now so tainted that she could no longer survive without Soul Edge. Sophitia had no other choice and cooperated with Nightmare and Tira to protect the sword... And her child. In the end, Siegfried managed to defeat Nightmare, and Sophitia had to sacrifice her life in order to save Pyrrha's by transplanting her last Soul Edge shard in her daughter's body. In doing so, Sophitia died so that her daughter may live.
Soulcalibur: Lost Swords[]
Sophitia appeared in the free-to-play game Lost Swords. She was one of the three characters the player can choose to start with, along with Siegfried and Mitsurugi. Her default weapon was a red version of her Omega Sword and Elk Shield.
Soulcalibur: Unbreakable Soul[]

When the player and Cassandra arrive at the Eurydice Shrine, Sophitia mistakes them for thieves aligned with Dampierre, who was planning on taking the holy weapons. After the player defeats her, she apologizes for the mistakes, but regrettably tells them that only those who are pure in heart can wield the holy weapons. Sophitia then notices Cassandra and comments that she looks like her younger sister, not knowing that Cassandra is the same person from a parallel world.

Following an oracle from Hephaestus, the god of fire and smithery, Sophitia succeeded in destroying one half of Soul Edge.
After recovering from the wounds she suffered from the word fragments, she returned to her life as the daughter of a baker and spent her days peacefully. However, one day Sophitia had an ominous vision of a knight in azure armor and a sword of immense evil.
Once again, Sophitia received an oracle from Hephaestus to destroy the remaining Soul Edge. As she embarked on her journey, Sophitia held on tightly to the sword and shiel forged by Rothion, her betrothed.
Chapter VII: Second Advent of the Vow[4]
When she recovered her senses she found herself lying in her bed at home. She returned to her life as the daughter of a baker and has spent her days in peace. But one day on her way shopping with her sister, she suddenly lost consciousness.
"So many lives... disappearing... Soul Edge?"
Sophitia was rescued and carried back home by a youth named Rothion who lived in the next city. Since that day they were attracted to each other so strongly that they decided to become engaged. They were visiting the Temple of Hephaestus to report their engagement to him, when Hephaestus appeared before them. The God of Smiths revealed that the remaining Soul Edge was regaining its power and he needed Sophitia’s help once again.
"Let me go in place of her", insisted Rothion.
"Rothion, you are a smith, aren't you? This time it is you who will forge the armor and weapon to protect Sophitia."
Hephaestus gave Rothion a raw chunk of sacred iron and instructed Sophitia that she must completely destroy the Soul Edge. She left home with the sword and shield that Rothion had forged from the iron. She pursued Soul Edge, purifying lands seized by the Evil Seed. Her eyes shined with the light of faith.Soulcalibur II[]
In-game Profile
Sophitia was the eldest daughter of a baker. Her life was rather ordinary until the day she received an oracle from Hephaestus, the god of fire and forge, to destroy an evil sword called Soul Edge.
The divine words of Hephaestus led Sophitia on two journeys. The first time, she succeeded in destroying one half of the Soul Edge, but received grave injuries by the flying shards of the shattered blade. The second quest took place a few years later when she learned that the remaining Soul Edge continued to wreak havoc.
During the second journey, Sophitia found out that someone else had destroyed the demonic sword, and so she returned home to Rothion, her betrothed. They married shortly thereafter and were blessed with two children. They led a happy life until the day they encountered a peticular [sic] metal fragment.
Her children scrambled and fought violently over a metal shard that Rothion received from a mysterious customer. The evil aura the fragment emanated caused Sophitia's old wounds to ache.
"Had the shards of the demonic sword infected me with their dark energy before they were removed from my body?..." Sophitia thought in horror. But that would explain her children's frenzied reaction over the piece of metal.
Sophitia's younger sister, Cassandra, saw her bewildered reaction, and ran out with the metal shard. A few weeks passed before Sophitia made up her mind.
Sophitia intended to free her children from the evil sword's curse and insure the safe return of her sister, who had left on a journey to destroy Soul Edge on Sophitia's behalf.
In Sophitia's hands were the new sword and shield that her beloved husband had forged for her.
Soulcalibur III[]
In order to save her children, Sophitia embarked on a journey once again. Following the rumors of Nightmare, she arrived on the bank of the Rhine river, overlooking Ostrheinsburg Castle.
Breaking the silence, a small girl in dark green clothes suddenly appeared from the mist and spoke to her with an innocent smile. Sophitia remained on guard and drew her weapon. She could tell that the unusually large ring the girl carried was a weapon.
"Soul Edge isn't in that castle anymore. Say, I'd really like to play with your children," the girl said.
Sophitia attacked without a word, but the girl dodged the blow, disappearing into the mist with a twisted giggle. Sophitia hurried home and was relieved to find her family safe. She could not relax, however, for she did not know what she should do. Feeling uncertain, Sophitia headed to the temple of Hephaestus, god of the forge.
But what awaited her at the temple was none other than the girl in green. Sophitia quickly picked up her sword and shield.
"Ahaha! You want to fight me?...Sounds like fun!" The girl in green beamed. Blocking the girl's attack, Sophitia looked into her eyes and saw the emptiness the girl held in her heart.
"Poor child. You've never known happiness..." Sophitia murmured. The girl froze. Her expression changed from her previous fake smile to a look of extreme hatred. She knocked back the surprised Sophitia and took her distance.
"You're annoying...When the time comes, I'll come for your children."
For the sake of protecting the ones she loved, Sophitia steeled her resolve to eliminate the threat at the source. She announced her intentions to Rothion and once again put on her traveling clothes.
"You be careful..." Rothion softly said to her.
In the eyes of this woman, who believed in herself and fought for those she must protect, shone a light of hope that would illuminate the future.
It is only the light of heaven that shines pure and leaves no stain.
-"Maximen und Reflexionen," Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
With great determination in her heart, Sophitia set out on her journey to free her children from their cursed fate. She also worried about Cassandra, who had run off on her own. She had to reach Soul Edge as quickly as possible and destroy it...
Following the rumors of Nightmare, she arrived at the bank of the Rhine river, overlooking Ostrheinsburg Castle. The eerie silhouette of the castle was visible through the enveloping mist. This land was steeped in a sinister presence--not a beast nor bird could be seen.
Just as the sound of a bird's cry pierced the silence, a figure appeared out of the fog like an illusion taking form. It was a small girl dressed in dark green clothes. Her clothes were tattered and torn, and her skin was visible through rips in the fabric.
"Hi! Nice weather, isn't it?" the girl said casually.
Sophitia was not caught off-guard by the girl's cheerful smile, and readied her weapon. The girl was carrying an oversized ring-shaped object completely incongruous with her small frame. Sophitia recognized its deadly nature instantly.
"Soul Edge isn't in the castle anymore. Say, I'd really like to play with your children." The smile the girl directed at Sophitia was neither gentle or heartwarming. Without a word, Sophitia lashed out at her, but the girl pulled her body back and dodged the swing.
"Sorry, it's not time for that yet. When the time comes, we'll meet again, okay?" Giggling, the girl melted away into the fog.
"Wait!" Sophitia tried to follow her, but the thick fog blocked her way.
"On a moonlit night, the young siblings went into a deep, dark forest. The poor siblings got lost in the mist, and were never heard from again." The girl's voice echoed in the distance, as if singing a nursery rhyme.
Her children were in danger! Sophitia hurried home at once and was relieved to find her family safe. She couldn't relax just yet, however. The girl after her children was still out there. She had to destroy the threat of the cursed sword, but she couldn't leave her family alone. Uncertain what to do, she went to the temple to pray to Hephaestus, the god of the forge, in hopes of receiving some sort of guidance.
But instead of receiving guidance, the girl in green clothes was waiting for her there. Sophitia hurriedly picked up the sword and shield laid upon the alter.
"I won't let you touch my children!" Sophitia pointed her sword at the girl.
"Ahaha! You want to fight? That should be fun!" said the girl, with a tone of twisted madness in her voice, as she unleashed a strike with her entire body. While desperately parrying the blow, Sophitia read another emotion apart from madness in the purple eyes that gazed at her across the blades.
"You've never known happiness, have you..." Sophitia spoke slowly. At those words, the girl stopped in her tracks.
"Pity doesn't suit me." Sophitia was startled by the cold, rough sound of the girl's voice. Looking at her face, she saw a look of incredible hatred that was completely unlike the fake smiles the girl had shown up until then. The girl pushed away the stunned Sophitia and, weapon still in hand, took her distance. "Humph. I've lost interest in this. You're really irritating."
As the girl glared at her, Sophitia was unable to see any trace of the loneliness she had caught a glimpse of earlier.
"As for your children...When I need them, I'll come for them." The girl jumped out of sight, leaving only those words behind.
Left alone in the temple, Sophitia thought quietly to herself. She was worried about her children, but merely waiting in fear would change nothing. True, she was no longer acting under the auspices of the gods, but she could still fight for the ones she loved.
Even now, Soul Edge was spreading its evil influence. The disaster had to be stopped at the source in order to save her beloved children.
Returning home, she explained her decision to Rothion and prepared once again for a journey.
"Please take care of the children...Please, be safe." Sophitia spoke softly to her husband.
"You be careful, too. May the blessing of the Goddess Nike be with you."
Soulcalibur IV[]
Sophitia continued her pursuit of the cursed sword and at last she arrived in the sword's dominion, Ostrheinsburg. There she learned a shocking truth: while she was away from home, a cunning servant of the cursed sword had abducted her daughter. Soul Edge had grown more powerful than ever, a sinister voice whispered, and her young daughter would die without its evil energy to sustain her.
"Feeling torn? I would too, if I'd left my children to fend for themselves!" The words clung to Sophitia like a curse. "Well, don't believe me, if you don't want to, but I suggest you think carefully before making your choice." She had come running after the sword to destroy it, but when she thought about the consequences now. If Soul Edge should be lost, what would become of her child?
And so that her child might live, the crusader Sophitia made her choice: to battle any warrior who came to Ostrheinsburg seeking to destroy Soul Edge. With each new sin, guilt tore at her heart, but there was no other way. Would Sophitia and her family never be able to dwell in the light of the sun again?
She was a baker’s daughter, whose extraordinary piety caught the eye of Hephaestus, the Greek god of fire and forge. One day he appeared to her in an oracle, and as his holy warrior she battled Soul Edge. But as a price for shattering one half of the cursed sword, she was showered with its evil fragments.
Later, Sophitia entered into a happy marriage and was even blessed with two children; however, she had not been released from her destiny. For once a person becomes involved with Soul Edge, he or she can never escape its ominous shadow.
Sophitia felt a dull pain course through her breast. She had no idea that a piece of Soul Edge remained lodged inside her, she thought all the shards were removed. But there was one exception. A single sliver was embedded dangerously close to her heart, and a single slip in extracting it would have meant the end of her life, so they had been forced to leave it where it lay. This piece of Soul Edge went on to cast a dark shadow over her life. The gods had seen fit to grant her and her husband a daughter and son, but the sword’s malevolent intent was passed to them as well. And it’s evil worked further woes: while Sophitia—who longed for more than her children’s happiness—was away from home and at war with Soul Edge, a cunning servant of the cursed sword abducted her daughter and disappeared into the mist.
Unaware of the tragedy that had struck at home, Sophitia continued her pursuit of the cursed sword. At last she arrived in the sword's dominion, Ostrheinsburg, and there she learned everything: that her beloved daughter had been carried away because of the evil in her blood; that Soul Edge had attained more tremendous power than ever; and worst of all, that her young daughter would now die without the sword's evil energy to sustain her.
“Feeling torn? I would, too, if I’d left my children to fend for themselves!” The black-hearted taunt pierced through Sophitia, each word another stitch in a perfectly sewn curse. “Well, don’t believe me if you don’t want to, but I suggest you think carefully before making your choice.” She ran to the sword to destroy it and save her poor children, but her pace slackened until, finally, she halted altogether. Should Soul Edge be destroyed now, she thought, what would become of my child?
How long did she stand there? Day turned to night, and shadow fell. A flock of birds from who knows where began to raise raucous cries. Soul Edge’s spell wove its way betwixt Sophitia's uncertainty and confusion, binding her fast. And then the night enshrouding Ostrheinsburg began to sink into her heart. She found herself stepping off the path that she had long believed in. There would be no turning back. The girl to whom the oracle had come was gone.
And so the fallen crusader, Sophitia made her choice: to battle any warrior who came to Ostrheinsburg seeking to destroy Soul Edge. With each new sin, guilt tore at her heart, but there was no other way. She was now bound to the ominous blade. Would her family never be able to dwell in the light of the sun again?[6]Physical Appearance[]
For the beginning of Soul Edge, Sophitia was a young girl with pale skin, green eyes, and long, braided blonde hair. Over the years, she grew up from a brave teenager into a caring, protective mother. During her creation, designers focused on maintaining an innocent appearance for her face, to give the character a sense of feeling fresh and young. Freedom of movement between the sword and shield were also emphasized, with the intention to allow for the blade to rotate around the shield for cyclonic attacks. An alternate character called Azula was conceived during the development of Sophitia's secondary outfit in Soul Edge, but was abandoned.
Personality[]
Sophitia is a benevolent, faithful, valiant, selfless, and strong-willed woman who is devoted to her family and will do anything to protect them by all means, even if it means sacrificing her own life. She is especially fond of her children, and willingly decided to join the forces that serve Soul Edge to protect her daughter Pyrrha, whose life lies in the hands of Soul Edge. She may also be considered as tough as her younger sister Cassandra, because she has taken on a very tough decision that few could bear. Her personality has softened and matured a lot in Soulcalibur III; her voice is more low-pitched and monotonous, for example. In Soulcalibur IV, Sophitia is very melancholic and doubtful, due to the danger her daughter incurs.
Costumes[]
Soul Edge[]
In Soul Blade, Sophitia wears her hair in a loose braid. She has a white flowy skirt with a blue stripe around the bottom of it. She has high sandals on that go up to her thighs, equipped with armor. She wears a silver/brown breastplate that covers her torso, as well as silver shoulder guards and brown arm guards.
Soulcalibur[]
In Soulcalibur, Sophitia's costume was heavily changed but stuck with the general design of her previous costume. She wears her hair similar to how she did in Soul Edge but her braid seems much tighter. She wears a loose blue top openly laced at the breast, as well as blue shoulder guards surrounded by white cloth and brown arm guards. She is once again wearing a white skirt, with a blue crisscross pattern at the bottom. She has a brown belt around her waist and long brown boots that go up to her thighs that are laced at the side.
Soulcalibur II/Legends[]
Sophitia's Soulcalibur II costume is very similar to her costume in Soulcalibur. She wears her hair the same as before but it now has a white bow to tie it at the end. She is wearing the same top from the previous except it is a slightly different color. She has very similar shoulder guards too but they are a different shape and a greeny/blue color as well as brown arm guards. She has a brown crisscross belt around her waist and is wearing a white skirt with a blue pattern along the bottom. She is now wearing short sandals dressed with armor on her feet. Her appearance in Soulcalibur: Legends is the same.
Soulcalibur III[]
In Soulcalibur III, Sophitia's costume was completely redesigned once again to represent "Greek Goddess" attire. Her hair was once again in a tight braid; however, her bangs were styled differently and her braid was tied with a green bow. She wears a white, loose, see-through top that covers her right breast. Under the top, she is wearing a silver breast plate that covers both her breast. She has silver shoulder guards decorated with see-through white cloth as well as brown arm guards with a green stripe along the top. She has a brown belt along her waist decorated with green dots. She is wearing a see-through, white skirt with a whiter pattern along the bottom. She wears short sandals decorated with armor on her feet and a green stripe along the top of the sandal.
Soulcalibur IV/Broken Destiny/Lost Swords[]
In Soulcalibur IV, Sophitia kept the "Greek Goddess" theme. Her hair is now in a very loose braid tied with a light blue bow. She wears a see through pinkish white top that drops over her shoulders/upper arms. She is wearing brown arm guards and faded purpley/blue upper arm guards surrounded by brown leather. She has a metal purpley/blue belt decorated with brown string that attaches other parts of the belt together. She has a pinky/white, see through skirt that has a bold white pattern along the bottom. She is wearing sandals once again surrounded by white see through material. Her apperance is the same in Broken Destiny. In Lost Swords, she wears the same costume but it is now a pure white color. The brown on her arms is now darker and any metal that was purpley/blue is now a dark blue color.

As Sophitia struggles to push the sword away, Algol walks up to her, grabs the sword, and moves it away with ease. A shocked Sophitia looks up and says, "What? You..." Algol then says, "All through the ages, a parent's love for their child surpasses any weapon."
A flashback sequence initiates at this time, showing Algol's son attacking him with Soul Edge. Algol explains that if one is misguided in his beliefs, he will only bring harm to those he wishes to protect. "You have a child as well?" Sophitia asks, bewildered at Algol's empathy. "Time is cruel," Algol replies. "Even with all of this power, I cannot undo the past." Algol suddenly disappears with both Soul Calibur and Soul Edge in his hands, and his voice is heard: "Now, brave mother, return to your child."
The text-only epilogues states that although her name is not recorded in history, she probably lived the rest of her life in happiness.

Fighting Style[]
Sophitia is mainly a counter fighter. She is, like her sister Cassandra, quite an aggressive fighter, because of her right side throw and her Seraphim Strike, followed along with the Painful Fate combos, and her Heaven to Hell throw. Her Heaven to Hell throw cause her to jump and traps her foe's head in between her thighs and twists it to the left. This throw can be followed up with a backflip that piledrives the enemy into the ground. Her Bottoms Up throw (only useable on a foe whose back is turned) has her jump up, and knock the enemy into the air with her butt. Her signature Heaven's Arch throw cause her to grab the opponent's head and places it between her thighs, she then secures the head by wiggling causing slight damage, finally jumping into the air with the opponent's head directly under her butt, and falls to the ground in a sitting position slamming the her victim's head on the ground while smashing their face with her butt. She can avoid attacks and hit with an attack of her own. Like her younger sister, Cassandra, she is awful at long range, but makes up for it in attack throws, close quarters, strength, and speed. Also, like Cassandra, she has moves that involve ramming her butt into her opponents. However, she is a lot more skilled and does more damage than Cassandra. She can also dash in and attack as well with a variety of moves. She is regarded by the tournament community as a high-to-top tier character, and is quite often used.
Soulcalibur IV[]
Athenian Style[]
Sophitia was once a holy warrior of Olympus. Though deeply devout, she was not fighter. Indeed, she was but a mere baker's daughter, but under the protection of the goddess Athena and the divinity within her, she was able to fulfill her mission.
Time passed, and she became a wife and mother of two. But, precisely because she is a mother, she has been forced to fight on the side of evil, and she is more skilled now in the arts of combat than she ever was. As a grieving mother her soul is torn, struggling under the weight of her cruel fate. Do these ancient Greek gods still protect her, or have they forsaken her forever?[6]
Critical Finish[]
Divine Palladium: Sophitia slashes her opponent with her sword on their chest, pushing them back, then she jumps on them. Using them to launch herself spinning into the air, she swings her sword at her opponent, stunning them. She then gets into a praying position (Possibly praying to Zeus, who in Greek mythology could use lightning bolts to attack enemies) and a flash of thunder comes, striking her opponent down.
Weapon Arts[]
Heaven's Gate: This once was her Unblockable Attack, but now it's a Break Attack. It begins with the animation, in which Sophitia crouches a little, and then she hits the opponent in a jump. It always leads to a Guard Burst, if the opponent is guarding. This mid-range attack doesn't stun the opponent and sends him up into the air, allowing you to create a combo, even when your enemy is lying on the ground or already is in the mid-air. It also can make the opponent hit the wall. Although, after performing this single strike Sophitia can't do anything for a while. This can be dangerous in case this vertical attack misses or is avoided. In addition, it can be easily interrupted by the opponent's middle or low attacks, but you will be surely saved from all high attacks. So the best way to use it is to activate it, when the opponent isn't able to attack.
Judgment Point: That's a combination of Twin Step Somersault and Guardian's Judgement. The first middle-range kick attack makes the opponent fly, after that Sophitia makes three more hits and says "Now... Pardon me!", sending the opponent back to the ground. The last kick attack performed in slow motion, and regardless of your type of the weapon, is accompanied with blue glow, which resembles that of Hilde's charge attacks. The first attack is pretty quick and safe, as Sophita avoids all coming attacks of the opponent during it, but it can be side-stepped, so it's better to use this Weapon Art in combo, when the opponent is lying on the ground or thrown high into the air. However, it's impossible to create a combo after it. Regardless of the opponent's position, it will work the same way. If it misses, or opponent is guarding, only the first attack will be performed. If it's blocked, Sophitia will bounce off the opponent, creating too much distance for him to punish you. It cannot make the opponent hit the wall, but can be used to continue a wall combo. Under certain circumstances the second and the third hits may miss occasionally.
Jupiter Storm: This is basically Elysium's Critical Edge called Eleusian Initiation. Sophitia quickly turns around in animation, lowering her sword for a second, as she says "I cannot lose". Then she slowly raises her shield and sword, saying "Ah... Gods", meanwhile the opponent is hit twelve times by the unseen light force, and the last of the hits make the blowing sound. There are some white sparkles and the fade rainbow light around Sophitia during the animation, and when she starts attacking she emits large circles of light. The enemy is surrounded by the light as well. It is a very efficient Weapon Art, as it starts attacking immediately after pressing, having no chances to be stopped, it's easy to create a combo after and before it, because it'll work anytime the opponent isn't guarding, and can be performed at any distance. If the opponent is attacked in the air, the last hit makes him fly even higher, without being stunned, which enables you to keep beating him after the Weapon Art. Otherwise, while standing or lying, the opponent will be stunned, but you still will be able to add some more attacks. It can't hit the opponent against the wall, but if he's already hit against it, the attack will work nicely. In case the opponent is guarding, you can't be punished after performing Jupiter Storm, owing to the last blowing attack, which knocks the opponent back.
Valkyrie Arc: This Weapon Art consists of the middle horizontal attack followed by two hits of Angel Arc. At first, there's an animation, in which Sophitia is slowly drawing her sword back and to the left, before landing the first mid-range horizontal attack, that is most likely the same as the first strike of her Critical Finish in SCIV. Then there's a simple Seraphim Strike, but the sword has a blue shine during it, and at last she tears her sword out of the opponent, jumping backwards in slow motion, while the turned away opponent, as he's falling down. The last strike is delivered, and it is always accompanied with green sparkles, again, regardless of your weapon type. Before making the attack, sometimes Sophitia says "Ready?" and during the attack she says "This is... the end!". The biggest advantage of this move is that it starts as quick as Jupiter Storm, so you can activate it just when you're almost hit by the opponent, and you'll never get hit. However, that's not easy to make a combo with it, as the first attack hits stunned opponent available for middle attacks only after certain types of moves, though it always works as a wall combo. Of course, it misses in case the opponent is lying on the ground. You can also hit the opponent in the air, but don't hope to do a lot of damage, as the first two strikes will hit, but the last animated devastating attack can only be performed on standing opponent. After these two attack made in the mid-air, the opponent won't be stunned and you'll have enough time to deliver Seraphim Strike or even Olympus Cannon as a guaranteed combo. In the full version of the move you won't be able to create any combo after the Weapon Art, because of the last stunning strike, which will never make the opponent hit the wall or stun him for a long time. By the way, if the first attack misses, Sophitia doesn't continue attacking, but if the opponent is guarding, the second one, which also is a mid-range attack, will be performed and if it catches him off guard , the third strike will take place.
