Tower of Lost Souls from Soulcalibur IV replaces the Weapon Master mode from Soulcalibur II and the Chronicles of the Sword mode from Soul Calibur III. The goal of the mode is to meet special conditions to reach the top of the tower with treasure chests to collect on each level. Characters can swap out in the middle of battle and it may be possible to perform combination attacks with two characters, but the opponent can switch characters as well. Both custom-created characters and feature characters can be used. Up to 4 floors have to be traversed at once (depending on which floors you've selected) without healing. Also depending on the range of floors selected, 1-3 characters can be used for each floor. After ascending 20 floors you can descend.
While ascending the Tower of Lost Souls, players can open treasure chests by completing certain tasks on each floor. The chests will be filled with items that can be used in Character Creation. If the item has been purchased prior, Gold will given instead.

Try to stay alive and defeat your opponents to complete every descending floors without getting K.O.ed. Here are tips and skills needed to stay alive:
- Always at least have the HP Drain or HP Recovery skills, or if possible, both, but HP Drain is more effective. Have the "A" skill for best results.
- Shave Damage C skill or if possible, B or A.
- When you fight the giant kittens (5, 15, 25, 35 Floors), they often block or impact then attack, so be aware of all of your character's moves so you can parry or repel their attacks. When able, use the Unblockable attack, they're not as smart.
- Know or master the characters' moves you are using.
- Never let your guard down, no matter how dumb or weak the enemy is.
- After floor 28, the enemies get tougher. They guard a lot and like to switch characters a lot. Defeat before they keep switching characters. They like to waste your time.
- Against difficult opponents, go for the Ring Out.
- On floor 40 Algol is very tough, the easiest way to defeat is with a ring out.
- The descent has over 40 floors. Floor 40 is the last floor to obtain a treasure chest. The descent may go on forever.
