This is going to be a bit awkward, as I recently got this character page back (it was deleted because I had been away for years, and was unaware of the new rules at the time) but I recently discovered that I had actually rewritten the profile for my fan character Daiken, and never uploaded it. I am now in the process of deciding whether to keep what is currently on this site, or to update it with what I was planning to do so with.
To help me decide, I would like, if it is okay, to show you what I was planning to replace [[1]] with, so you could see which looks better. I may still make my own decision, but this way I can at least see which people feel is better written. Please note, I will have to update one of my other characters, Saikyu, if Daiken's page is updated.
Here is a copy of what I had stored on my computer files; I am aware that it does not yet meet the requirements of a User Character now, and I am also aware that this is not the place to put a User Character, but I am only doing this temporarily for you all to help me decide, so I hope it is okay, and once it is decided, this blog will be removed if possible.
Daiken
Origin: Uncertain/Raised in Japan. Age: 23. Weapon: Katana. Weapon Name: State Light. Fighting Style: Combination of “Manji-Tou” and his own.
Daiken is a fan character created for the fan game “Soul Calibur: The Soul of Arcturus” by User:MJNSEIFER This article does not reflect any views from Namco. From a young age, he was brought to Japan, and it is there where his passion for swordsmanship was first discovered, he became intrigued by the many different styles of swordplay, and their disciplines. Daiken remembers nothing about life outside Japan, or his true reasons for being sent there, but he has not to this day, shown any real interest in finding his true origins. As an adult, Daiken had grown into a talented swordsman, choosing to use his skills defend himself and others, and he always fought with what he considered to be a just cause. Daiken’s talents were noticed by Yoshimitsu, who recruited him as part of the Manjitou, Daiken initially considered this a good sign, as he had heard that “Yoshimitsu” can also mean “Light of good fortune”. From that point onwards, Daiken journeyed with the Manjitou, seeing many sights, and learning far more about Japanese culture, and on many occasions his sword play was put the test as the Manjitou would often attract evil enemies, who would stand in there way – in one battle, Daiken’s sword was destroyed, and he himself almost died, but was defended by Yoshimitsu, who later gave him another sword, and even said that he could name the sword, as he had done his, if so chose to – after a lot of consideration, Daiken named the sword “State Light”. One day, while Daiken was exploring the current location, while the Manjitou slept, he was confronted by a strange sight; a girl, close to his age was tied to a fire. She struggled to escape, as several men prepared to light the fire – was she to be burned alive? Daiken couldn’t believe anyone could do such a thing, almost instantly; he found himself drawing his sword, and with one strike, he killed the man closest to the fire, the others soon drew their swords to attack, but he stood his ground, not letting anyone near the girl. By the time the battle had ended, Daiken was exhausted, but has successfully killed all enemies – he released the girl, and questioned her; she told him that the men did not give a reason for capturing her, all they had said was that they had sensed that she was “one” of them, and needed to be dealt with. For reason he could not understand, he felt compelled to be by this girl’s side, to ensure her safety – he remained with her for years. This meant that he had permanently left the Manjitou. In time, Daiken, and the girl named Saikyu became very close, and the two defended one another when under attack. However, something strange was happening with him; the closer they seemed to be to each other, passionately he would feel bouts of weakness, and sudden loss of energy. It was at these points, Saikyu would abruptly state that she needed to be alone, and would disappear into the night. The following day, Daiken’s strength would return, and so would Saikyu. At first this only happened rarely, but as the following year progressed, it became more and more frequent, the two of them suspected that somehow Saikyu maybe causing this event, but they promised they would find a way to ended, for they needed to stay together. However, they were one day ambushed; buy several samurai, who announced that “all of your kind must be destroyed”. They focused their attacks on Saikyu, but Daiken stood in their path, did what he could to fight them away. However, he was caught off guard, and seriously injured. As he fell into Saikyu’s arms he felt something soothing. When he awoke, he found that the samurai had all been killed, and Saikyu had gone – strangely, they had all been killed with a different sword. Daiken searched Japan for Saikyu – he needed to find her for her own safety, and he already faired the worst. Several days later, Daiken approached a village that had been badly damaged, any many innocent lives had died, when he questioned the survivors, he found that the attacker initially resembled Saikyu, but he appearance would sometimes change, listening to the description he was astonished to hear what he did. However, he had begun to realize something, he did not want to admit it to himself, but the whole thing made sense, the fact he found her in the process of burning, the loss of energy – he had researched Japanese folklore many times. Daiken traveled through many destroyed locations, hoping to find Saikyu – the more he traveled the more his suspicions were confirmed, however, he did not place any blame on Saikyu for what had happened, for he had seen her for himself. He finally cornered Saikyu in an abandoned area, at dusk, all alone. As he approached her, she initially smiled warmly, but as he approached – she began to shine with a bright aura – she began to look pained as if trying to fight something within her, and a flurry of energy was sent from her towards, Daiken, who passed out – as he slept, he saw images, of Saikyu, an image of an animal, and the sight of two swords… Daiken awoke to find that Saikyu had gone. Despite that he did not forget her, nor did her forget those images in his mind. As he traveled the land, he learned of the legendary Soul Edge – could that have been one of the swords in his vision? He also heard that, someone had been sighted with an glowing aura, and a strange weapon that shifted at will, this person’s description matched Saikyu’s except there was something inhuman about her. Daiken sets out to find Saikyu, and to save her, and to uncover Soul Edge’s purpose in this.
Weapon “State Light”; A Katana, given to him by Yoshimitsu. Daiken still uses this as his standard weapon despite no longer being part of the Manjitou. It should be noted, that Daiken chose to give the sword and English sounding name, rather than a Japanese one, however State Light can be translated into Japanese, especially during one of Daiken’s lines.
Ending to be detailed here.
Critical Finishers Type 1: He says; “This has to end!” and then runs over, and slashes his opponent, several times, and then kicks their legs, and sends them spinning in the air. He then dives forward, sword first and slashes them in mid air. He gets up and turns to his fallen opponent, and says; “I had to do this…” Type 2: He says; “You’ve left me no alternative!” He then slashes his opponent in each direction, and then jumps into the air. Suspended in the air, he outspreads his arms, as his own sword stays with him, then several swords appear and rain down on the opponent, disappearing as they do. Daiken then dives down, and finishes them off with his actual sword. He says to his opponent; “It was the only way…” Bonus Type 3: He says “Let’s settle this!” and slashes the air, as he does so, a blade shaped light flies out of his blade and hit his opponent; bringing him to his knees – Daiken then says; “Do you see my premonition?” and shadowy images of what appear to be duplicates of female Tekken character appear and attack the opponent. When they disappear, Daiken slashes through his opponent, and then stands, the two with their backs to each other. Daiken’s opponent falls, and Daiken sheaths his sword, and says; “One day a State Light will outshine your Good Fortune…”.
Trivia
• He and Saikyu have a Destined Battle. • He shares a few of Yoshimitsu’s attacks, but has far more of his own. Most of the attacks the two share, are the simpler, non-extravagant attacks – mostly because Daiken does not have a prosthetic arm. • Although Daiken’s birthplace is not revealed it is unlikely to be Japan (despite the fact he is raised there) because he is slightly blond, which is a rarity in Japan. • He is the only character to have a third Critical Finish. He uses is it only on Yoshimitsu in Souls and Swords. • If Daiken defeats Algol in Souls and Swords he will receive the Soul Calibur version of his weapon. • In Taki’s Souls and Swords adventure, if Daiken is encountered he will be a “back up” character for her, but will leave once a message states that he has “learnt everything he needs”. • Indirectly he may further the rumor that the Tekken Yoshimitsu might be descended from the Soul Yoshimitsu. • His skills focus on speed, but he has good power as well, however his physical strength is outmatched by some characters, so the player need to be tactical.
